Health checks and fault finding

Remediation and implementation
Owners and operators often approach us when systems designed or installed by others are underperforming or experiencing reliability issues. Whether the installation is new or a legacy asset, we provide a comprehensive review, remediation, and optimisation service to correct underlying design or operational problems.
We have successfully remediated hundreds of schemes, including communal heating networks, CHP systems, heat pumps, biomass boilers, chillers, ambient loop networks, and downstream heating and cooling systems.
Our process begins with a clear diagnostic review outlining the root causes and recommended actions, followed by a practical, costed remediation plan. We can plan, manage, and monitor the full programme of works to maximise the efficiency, reliability, and long‑term performance of heat, cooling, or power systems.
With extensive contract experience, we can also support clients where issues fall within contractual obligations, and we have a strong track record in expert witness roles where recovery of remedial costs from contractors is required.
Rural local authority district heating
In 2015 Sustainable Energy Ltd was commissioned by Ceredigion County Council for the design, tendering and client engineering role for the delivery of a new biomass boiler, wood store and extension to a heat network to connect Canolfan Rheidol Council Office, the Welsh Government Offices, Penweddig Secondary School and Plascrug Leisure Centre.
