Renewable energy

We provide technical support for renewable energy technologies covering solar PV, solar thermal, and wind, whether as part of an integrated energy system, or as a standalone technical solution.

Our services include feasibility studies, techno-economic assessment, plant sizing and developing detailed specifications for procurement and installation. Solar PV

Sustainable Energy provides technical support for solar thermal projects, from feasibility through to specification and detailed design. Our services include assessing heat demand profiles, evaluating roof, ground, or other available installation space, and optimising collector layout and orientation for maximum efficiency.

We deliver detailed plant sizing, system specification, and integration planning with existing heating or hot water systems. We undertake techno-economic assessments, develop project costings, and develop business cases including payback and return on investment, to help clients make informed decisions. We have worked on large-scale opportunities for integration with other energy systems, thermal storage, and ensuring technically robust, practical, and commercially viable solutions.

Solar thermal

We have extensive expertise in ground energy systems. This includes providing full support for ground source heat pump solutions, from feasibility through to detailed design, implementation, and operation. We assess geological and ground conditions, including thermal conductivity and suitability for vertical boreholes, directional boreholes and horizontal arrays. We develop specifications for test boreholes, manage drilling programmes, and design the borefield layouts.

Our modelling develops spacing for boreholes to charge and avoid depleting the ground resource, and ensure long-term efficiency. Our ground source borefields designs have included seasonal energy storage—capturing heat from cooling systems in summer for winter use and storing coolth in winter for summer cooling. System layout, pipework, plant access, and environmental and regulatory factors are all considered, providing a technically robust, practical, and commercially viable solution.

Wind

We provide feasibility and technical assessment for single wind turbine projects, including detailed site analysis, wind resource measurement, and turbine sizing to meet energy demand. We assess land availability, access, and environmental or planning constraints, including noise, visual impact, and grid connection requirements.

Techno-economic modelling, costings, and business case development support investment decisions, while grid export potential and commercial arrangements such as PPAs are evaluated. Our services help clients understand energy yield, project viability, and integration with wider renewable or heat network infrastructure.
